Bored Cast-In-Situ Piling

Bored piles are steel reinforced concrete elements cast in situ used to transfer high loads through soil to deeper, more competent soil or rock stratum. Constructed with conventional rotary kelly bar plant, the drilling tooling is selected to suit the nature of the soils to be excavated. Augers are adopted for clayey soils above the water table. Drilling buckets are adopted for digging loose, cohesion-less soil or soft clays below the water table. Rock profiles are best penetrated with rock augers or core barrels. Temporary casings are often used to maintain the integrity of the excavated shaft during the construction process and provide pile hole protection for personnel. When drilling through loose soil or very soft clays beneath the water table, special bentonite or polymer slurries are used to stabilize the pile excavation.
